There are many online resources for beginning to learn Vedic astrology. Some are free for the taking, others are correspondence courses, and require paid tuition. Other forms for learning Vedic astrology include books and tapes. The resources listed here are for your information only, and not necessarily recommended by Jyotish.net.
FREE ONLINE LESSONS Learn Vedic Astrology has free online tutorials going through a beginner book which teaches Jyotish based on Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra Vyasa Sri Jagannath Center has free online jyotish courses Visti Larsen has a large number of recordings and teachings for students Das Goravani - not really a course as such, Das - the programmer of the excellent "Goravani Jyotish" Vedic astrology program (which you can get here) offers lots of lessons on various aspects of Vedic astrology. Free for the taking, and very interesting. You can also subscribe to his jyotish mailing list to converse with other Vedic astrologers.
PAID COURSES David Frawley's correspondence course - Take what is probably the most popular course (distance learning/correspondence course) in Vedic astrology available in the West over the last twenty years and the only one to emphasize the Ayurvedic application of Vedic astrology. Gain training and certification in Vedic astrology and Ayurveda as an 'Ayurvedic Astrologer'. Dennis Flaherty's audio course - This easy-to-follow audio correspondence course with over 100 hours of guided instruction is complete with professional handouts, charts, and all course materials. The instructor, Dennis Flaherty, is certified in both Western tropical and Vedic Sidereal astrology. Now available on audio cassette or CD. Dirah Academy email course - The Dirah Academy is a great site for all things jyotish. This course is recommended by several experts, and the American Council of Vedic Astrologers. Komilla Sutton's distant learning course - Komilla brings her vast experience of Vedic Astrology to writing this course and guiding students to achieve proficiency in this ancient science. Personal attention and guidance throughout. R.G. Krishnan's internet course - He has four correspondence courses on Hindu/Vedic Astrology which deals with the subject, in simple English and covers the subject from the elementary level to the advanced level. Normally all the four courses together cost $558.00. As a special discount for Internet customers, it is offered for $201 only (If all the four courses are ordered on one go ).
