Tithi Timer Hindu Calendar Program - VERSION 1.01
What Is Tithi Timer?
Tithi Timer is a small program that generates a highly accurate Hindu lunisolar
calendar. This is the calendar required for Hindu puja, ritual, etc. The current
date range of the calendar is January, 2004 until January 2034.
As the name implies, Tithi Timer focuses on displaying the tithi change times for each lunar month. Using Tithi Timer, tithis can be calculated for any time zone in the world. And, while Tithi Timer comes with absolutely no guarantee, and is provided on a completely free basis, solely for personal use, every effort has been made to insure that the times are accurate.
Tithi Timer allows you to format its output in a number of different ways. Because Tithi Timer is a 100% pure Java application, it should run on most of the major platforms, including Windows 9X, MacOs, Unix, and Linux. However, I developed it on a Linux machine, and have not tested it on any of these other platforms. So, please let me know what your experience is.
Installation
Download the Tithi Timer .jar file. Put it wherever you'd like -- there is no
installer. Click on the Tithi.jar file and the
program will run (on a Windows machine). However, if you do not have a Java virtual machine (the
software your computer requires to run a Java program), you need to download one
from Sun. Here is the address: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
Choose the "JRE" and follow the instructions from there.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR WINDOWS USERS! - If you are using Internet Explorer, it will mistake the .jar file for a .zip file.
This is the fault of IE, and requires that you RENAME THE FILE with a .jar ending!
